Indian Dream

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 3; the third edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

Dreams are a state of sub-conscious mind….well don’t worry I am not getting into medical explanation. It’s just that have we “The Indians” come out of our sub-conscious state to a conscious state yet? When we look around us and see the way our systems work I guess it is best to just go back to our dreams.

But as it is said……

“Don’t sleep to just dream but wake up to make your dreams come true”.

Talking about Indian Dream ……….lets analyze this by every Individual Indian……dreaming for -

Politicians dream…… the progress of the country can’t believe it? Right! Well then it could be how to retain the chair of fame or hide the black money?

NRI’s dream …….. “Wish India could be a better place to live with all the comforts I get in this adopted country”……….this is what an NRI dreams ……..one who enjoys life out there and keeps criticising Indian lifestyle. But well they prefer to go to the people who pay them good for the work they do rather than pull you down to the ground, so cant blame them.

Farmer’s dream- Hope we get the right amount paid for the crops from the market so that we are not forced to sell the land for filling our empty stomachs.

Soldiers dream…..hope we get ride of these out dated weapons and get so sufficient ration to survive and keep our country safe.

Teenagers dream…….for a modern India with all the latest advanced technologies.

Experience aged persons dream…….Will my pension money reach me on time safely.

A sports- lovers dream……..Wish India wins a trophy or atleast a medal in the Olympics.

Common mans dream……Will the prices reduce back? Will the recession end? Will somebody hear my problems and help me solve them?

Leaders of our yesteryears dreamt of beautiful successful and independent India. But let’s ask ourselves are we living to the expectations of what our ancestors dreamt of? Every drop of their blood shed for a better future.

But is it of any use just going on blaming the government…….coz how many times have we done corruption ourselves to get our work done? How many times have we strictly followed the rules put down for us? How many times do we prefer an Indian brand over an international brand? How capable are we in Crisis Management? Many such questions are left unanswered or may be even questioned! Well the answers to these questions could make an Indian dream come true.

Remember to make a dream come true we just don’t need money and power but a true will and a truthful path. Then only we can say the Indian motto stands right, “Satyameva Jayate" (Sanskrit: "Truth Alone Triumphs")

Finally as a proud Indian I would like to put my Indian dream before you …….as I see my country a beautiful land with its rich and varied heritage and amazing unity in diversity standing high, reaching the stars and achieving all the dreams seen by tired eyes.

  4. Why is that we often forget that the "I" in NRI still stands for Indian ? If he is a bona fide Indian citizen, cares for his mother land, has family back home , invests most of his earnings back home jump starting the macro economy in his town. Why is that bad ?

The total amount of FDI investments in India is estimated for 2007 is $ 15 billion. And we tout that fiigure proudly - and our stock market fluctuates on any variance from that figure too. Guess what NRI"s will remitt to India in the same period ? A mind boggling $ 30 billion ! 60% of which goes into goes into Rural India. Most consisting of small amounts for the maintanence of families left behind, or small investments. If the world bank is correct, every dollar remitted contributes 3 dollars to the GDP growth - which means that NRI's are contributing to growth of almost a $ 60 billon to India's rural economy.

Just look around ; 1 in 3 things around you is by a foreign company :-) . Like Thomas L Friedman said, world is getting flatter by the day. It will/is happening whether America likes it or not ; whether India likes it or not.

I truly agree with you.....i have the Indians in UK still clutching on to their culture and tradition. They too have their moist when they think of India. And when they come back here we treat them as guests in their own homes.
It is really amazing to know that NRI's have contributed $60 billion to India's economy......that was an update for me!
    Thanks

  6. Hi pankaja
A very different post of this blog-a-ton i have read so far!
You asked how many times have we done corruption ourselves to get our work done?
In my post of blog a ton, i took the same and answerd We ourselves are the cause and solution for this problem
When we stop giving bribes, noone will get it, corruption is prevented! But getting things done, we ourselves pay money at lower level! But when this happens at higher level, we call it corruption!

    Good one yaar!
