I remember the heavy rains pouring out kept people back home safe....well but only young blood like us could think of adventures at this time. So we, a bunch of friends take out our car push our selves ( nearly 7 ) in one car and hit the road. Make it to CCD not the near one, closeby to our homes but the one which is some 15kms as it is 24hrs open. After some good chat and laugh, while on our way back home the water had risen over a bridge, due to the down pour and at a certain point while crossing the bridge we all sat with our fingers crossed as my friend behind the steering asked after crossing a certain patch " Are we still on the bridge or off the side of the bridge". all we could react is maintain dead silence.....but this trip remained as an adventurous memory in all our minds.
Next i remember we friends were just done with seeing a movie...and were supposed to go back home but....one of us got a 'Thought' "why dont we go for a SHORT drive?". Another head dragged the idea ahead by suggesting the Highway (Mumbai- Pune Expressway) which is a lovely drive. Then another head scratched and concluded (he stays somewhere mid-way between pune & mumbai....Panvel)" If we travelling that way why dont you guys drop me home?". Well then unanimously we all agreed to drop him to Panvel which is some 60-70kms from our start point. So at 11pm we leave to drop our friend in Panvel (without our parents knowing....)I had to convince a friends mom to allow her to stay at my place, so my parents dont get upset in her presence regarding the late night. When we reached this guys house his mom when she opened the door at first she was shocked later surprised to see as to why her son returned home at such an odd hour from Pune. Then after getting to know the story she cooled. We reached back home crossing our fingers by 1.30am.....but the temperature back home was cool.So that made a safe entry for me.
Another incident i remember is playing a prank on one of our friend in our group. It so happened that a friend of ours was getting married. As the rituals seemed never ending, two of us thought of bringing some suspense and action. So we first collected essential things- tissue paper, kajal pencil, red roses and put our whacky brains to work. Writing down some romantic quotes on the tissue with the kajal, we caught hold of our messenger boy( a small kid running around aimlessly....) bribed him with a chocolate and asked him to deliver the rose and tissue with quotes to the boy in blue shirt (our bakra.....one of our friend from our group). And the series of delivery went on smoothly one after the other, without my friend realising it was us. To make it feel real we asked our messenger to give it when we were with our friend talking.First our friend was all blushing and enjoying. But as the number of tissues increased .......tension began slightly to mount in. So the next day we disclosed our naughty prank to him, before he would start dreaming of this imaginary girl.
Well i really miss those lovely, carefree days. Our typical hangout points with the known waiters, calculating the money we have first then placing the order. Pestering someone for a treat. Celebrating birthdays at mid-night.Buying gifts. Going for treks. And most important being there for whoever was in need.
But now we all seem to have everything except time for each other.......We meet once in a blue moon, often forget birthdays, call once in a while....Guys I know as we move ahead priorities change, responsibilities increase....but lets stand back for each other as we did before....the GITA'S Coffee, Chinese corner is still waiting for us........I REALLY MISS YOU GUYS....(Sonal, Upasana,Resham, Mak, Vihang, Devesh, Andy ). Well i know the ups-and-downs we all have gone through but lets get back those days once again. :)
