Ganapati

well Ganesh Festival round the corner. Its one of my favorite Gods (apologies to the rest...well if we can have favourite colors, fav. heroes i guess fav. Gods is also fine). The interesting part is the festival goes on for 10 days without fail, come what may. Unlike Diwali which depends on the calender year. I remember my days in school we all friends gathered along to have a look at the amazing decorations around the city. We spent the whole night walking around the city without getting tired or sleepy. Not to forget how we friends mananged to get along to practice dance, inspite of our parents complaining of wasting study time in usless dance. But no i see the same ppl ( parents) all excited with my nephews dance practice, where he is in total 3 dances and a drama. Well its true times change and so do ppl. ;) The best part i like is when we all colony members dressed to our best, who dont meet each other through out the year other than a hi or bye in the parking come together for the aarati and not to forget the delicious sweets shared later. The strangest part is that you can have an image of Ganapathi from anything and everything.....try it out from a leave, flower, coconut etc.

But coming to the commercialisation of the ganesh festival.... the warganis ( charity) forcefully taken in the name of God is annoying. I remember the goons from different mandals ( organisations) coming to collect money in my clinic. i nearly had a heated brawl with one of them. But my dad said just dont argue and pay to their demands or else they will create trouble. Hence on, i half- heartedly pay them for their gamble and drinks indirectly. When we say India is an INDEPENDENT and DEMOCRATIC country ............i still give it a second thought.

HAPPY GANESH FESTIVAL
